Nuvilex Reports Clementine Art Estimates their Market Opportunity for its All-Natural Art Products Manufactured with Nuvilex Inks to be $65 Million.
Clementine's 4- and 6-Color Natural Marker Sets are in Full Compliance with Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Guidelines.
Cherry Hill, NJ, December 7 2009, Nuvilex, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: NVLX.OB) announces that its Production Agreement with Clementine Art, Inc. addresses growing government concerns and increasing consumer demand for safer children's toys.
New legislation--drafted in February 2009--requires that all toys sold in the United States are compliant with ASTM D 4236 (Standard Practice for Labeling Art Materials for Chronic Health Hazards). This new measure will undoubtedly improve safety standards and decrease the likelihood that children will come into contact with unsafe toys. The legislation, which garnered strong bipartisan support in its approval by Congress, is part of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA). The law makes the ASTM D 4236 standard a mandatory requirement for toys. Additionally, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has studied the standard's effectiveness and has issued final consumer guidelines for toy safety. Diana Mercer, the founder of Clementine Art, Inc. (and a former elementary school teacher) founded Clementine Art specifically to address safety concerns in arts and crafts products that are used in children's toys.
The U.S. toy market, which includes arts and crafts, dolls, games, electronics, sports, plush toys, vehicles, and others, is a $22.5 billion dollar market. Clementine Art's two market segments - arts and crafts and pre-school and infant toys - represent approximately 30%, or $6.5 billion of the U.S. toy market. Clementine Art estimates that its products (which currently include all-natural paints, markers, soy crayons, soy crayon rocks, and modeling dough) represent a $65 million dollar market opportunity - a 1% share of the U.S. toy market.
Nuvilex inks and related products, developed from its Freedom2 proprietary technology, will enable Clementine Art to meets its growth goals. Freedom2 ink technology, developed to improve tattoo safety and bring new standards of excellence to the tattoo industry, has been rigorously tested and its inks have proven to be safe. Freedom2 inks can be easily adapted to satisfy the needs of clients and customers who demand safe, all-natural products and the corresponding growing consumer demand for companies who are dedicated to manufacturing safe toys. In the future, Nuvilex would like to help Clementine Art to create additional safe, all-natural products for the children's toy market.
"Safety sells," commented Martin Schmieg, Chairman and CEO of Nuvilex, Inc. "Recently reported safety hazards and the recall of toys manufactured overseas have heightened our awareness of the potential safety issues surrounding children's toys and arts and craft supplies. Discerning consumers are seeking out companies and toys that present transparency of component materials and meet or exceed current safety standards. We believe Clementine Art has seized upon a large market opportunity and we are pleased and proud to be a supplier of quality materials."
